Questions about student visa funds

How much money do I need to show for an Australian student visa from India?+

Twelve months of living costs (A$29,710 for you alone), your first year of tuition less any amount already paid, and travel costs, all at the same time. For a typical A$38,000 course that is roughly A$70,000, about 47 lakh rupees at current rates.

Can I show an education loan?+

Yes, from a recognised financial institution, with the sanction letter and, under Evidence Level 3, evidence that funds are actually available and disbursable. A sanction letter alone is often not enough for Indian applicants in 2026.

Does the money have to be in my own account?+

It can be yours, your spouse's or your parents'. The department tests whether the funds are genuinely available to you and whether their history makes sense against the account holder's income tax returns.
