Subclass 143Parent

Contributory Parent visa for applicants from India

The subclass 143 is permanent residence for parents of settled Australians who pay a high contributory charge in exchange for a shorter queue than the non-contributory parent visa. Even so, published waiting times run well over a decade.

For Indian applicants

Indian families usually weigh three options: the 143 with its large second instalment and long wait, the 870 temporary sponsored parent visa for up to ten years without permanent residence, and long-stay visitor visas. The right choice depends on the sponsor's income, the parents' health and whether permanent residence truly matters.
